The Azehna House is a Net Positive, Passive House PLUS project that strives for deep sustainability in all aspects of its design. The house generates and meets all its household water needs from rainwater harvesting, generates more energy than it uses, and has incorporated many elements that enhance and contribute to the natural landscape around it. There are ‘green roof’ elements, and extensive use of reclaimed railway timbers and site-milled woods. The design inside and out is highly biophilic in incorporating natural themes and elements throughout, and all materials were stringently vetted to be non-toxic, zero-VOC and sustainably sourced. The project is also targeting Living Building Challenge petal certification.
"Your dedication to sustainability and renewable materials is so refreshing to see, and that you combine green building with sharp, beautiful design is a win, win!
